Die Seiten der Textinitiative Fukushima werden derzeit von der Japanologie der Goethe-Universität betrieben. Gegenwärtiges Anliegen von TIF ist die zeitgeschichtliche Dokumentation. Das Forum dient nun in erster Linie als Archiv für Informationen zu 3/11 sowie allgemein zur Geschichte des Atomaren. Die Suchfunktion ermöglicht Recherchen zu Stichworten, Inhalten und Akteuren.

Das "Hiroshima World Friendship Center" ist eine internationale Begegnungsstätte um das Thema Atom und bietet unter anderem die Möglichkeit, mit "Strahlenopfern" (hibakusha) der Atombombenabwürfe von 1945 in Kontakt zu treten. Für diesen Sommer schreibt das Zentrum in Verbindung mit der "Tanimoto Peace Foundation" Praktika im Zeitraum vom 4. Juli bis zum 1. August 2020 aus - die Gelegenheit dürfte gerade auch für Studierende der Japanologie interessant sein, die zukünftig zu diesem Thema forschen wollen. |

Laut des IOC Vertrages wäre eine Verschiebung von Olympia 2020 in Japan möglich – eine Reaktion auf die sich auch in Japan verbreitenden Erkrankungen durch den Corona Virus. „Finden die Olympischen Sommerspiele vielleicht nicht im Sommer statt? Diese Möglichkeit hat zumindest Japans Olympia-Ministerin Seiko Hashimoto ins Spiel gebracht. Sie hält eine Verschiebung der Wettkämpfe für theoretisch möglich. Im Vertrag zur Ausrichtung der Spiele stehe geschrieben, dass das Internationale Olympische Komitee (IOC) nur im Falle, dass die Spiele nicht innerhalb des Jahres 2020 abgehalten werden, das Recht habe, Olympia abzusagen, sagte Hashimoto dem japanischen Fernsehsender NHK: "Das kann man so interpretieren, dass man die Spiele verschieben kann, sofern sie innerhalb des Jahres 2020 stattfinden.“ (Der Spiegel, 3. März 2020) Die Überlegungen wurden von Olympia-Offiziellen allerdings schnell zurückgewiesen: „However, the suggestion of a possible change of plan was quickly batted back at a meeting of the International Olympic Committee’s executive board in Switzerland. “We are going to have the games on the 24th of July,” IOC spokesman Mark Adams said at a briefing.“ (Japan Times, 3. In einem Greenpeace Artikel wird auf einen investigativen Bericht des U.S. network HBO im Rahmen der Sendung ‘Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel ’ hingewiesen. Aus dem Greenpeace Artikel: „What does it mean to host the Olympics and Paralympics in the context of an ongoing nuclear disaster, the effects of which are still being felt by tens of thousands of Japanese citizens? What does it tell about the Japanese government and its commitment to respecting the values of transparency and the human rights of its citizens? These are some of the important questions raised by HBO and they warrant careful consideration in the months leading up to this year’s summer games.“ „The decision to host two sporting events in Fukushima city raises genuine and important questions over radiation risks. The route of the Olympic Torch relay in all the municipalities of Fukushima prefecture includes the districts of Iitate, Namie, and Okuma where Greenpeace Japan’s Nuclear Monitoring & Radiation Protection Team has discovered radioactive hotspots, both in the open areas as well as in the remaining radiation exclusion zones, that remain too high even by revised governmental standards. „Price’s book includes an intriguing essay by Fred Pearce, in which the science and environmental writer introduces the term radiophobia. “Something about the invisibility of radiation, and its potential to kill silently, brings on [this] condition among many of us,” writes Pearce. “We have good reason to fear what we cannot see, or taste, or hear, or touch. If our senses offer no guide to the scale of the risk, we must assume the best or fear the worst.” „Initially, Price intended to produce diptychs: a thermal image followed by a “normal” shot of the same scene. But in the editing process, he found that there was an intensity to the thermal images that became more engaging than a static approach. “My images are not scientific, they are purely visual, but there is a conceptual link,” he explains. Thermal imaging is used to detect certain illnesses and cancers, and there is also an element of anonymity that it brings to work. This ties in with the cultural backdrop of the stigmatisation associated with radiation, as well as allowing for Price to instigate a wider conversation about non-tangible issues such as stress and mental health.“ (bjp online, 16.
